41st Annual Harvest Festival at The Farmers' Museum

- Crafts, demonstrations, storytime, and contests
- Musical performances on Saturday: "Bourbon and Branch" and "Gravelyard"
- Musical performances on Sunday: "Rusty Doves" and "Heaven's Back Door"
- Saturday: Blue Ribbon Cloggers
- Sunday: O'Donnell Kelly Dance Company
- Marvel at demonstrations of dog obedience and agility.
- Watch a parade of champion animals from the museum’s annual Junior Livestock Show.
- See cuddly alpacas and watch their agility in an obstacle course. An entire tent is home to these domesticated animals raised for their fiber.
- Smile at the Children's Barnyard filled with rabbits, goats, and donkeys.
- Take in the whole museum on a horse-drawn wagon ride.
Many artisans demonstrate their skills. (Complete artisan and vendor list coming soon!)
- Spinning and fiber art demonstrations.
Harvest time means farm and food:
- Help with harvesting potatoes, beans, corn, and hops.
- Enjoy agricultural activities that include corn shelling and grinding.
- Apple cider pressing demonstrations.
- Savor an abundance of delicious foods from the season’s harvest.
- Relish the taste of pulled pork, chili, hot dogs, and salads.
Children will especially enjoy:
- Rides on the Empire State Carousel, the museum you can ride (sponsored by Matt Sohns and family)
- Historic games and races
- Rope making
- Apple bobbing
- Craft activities for the entire family
- Nineteenth-century games in the one-room schoolhouse
At noon on Saturday, stop by the Empire State carousel for the dedication of a new carousel plaque honoring New York State musician Pete Seeger. Carousel creator Jerry Holzman will also sign the museum's book detailing the history of the carousel.
On Sunday at 2:00 pm, enjoy a book signing and reading with author Shannon Hayes and her new book Homespun Mom Comes Unraveled and Other Adventures from the Radical Homemaking Frontier.
