On Saturday, May 4, 2019, Blue Rock School and Rockland Center for the Arts will host a very special one-day Art Exhibition fundraiser on RoCA’s sprawling 10-acre campus in West Nyack. The goal is twofold: to showcase art that touches on issues of significant importance among our community members, and highlight the important role that artists can play in amplifying a message or point of view and effecting meaningful change in the world. All this, while inspiring a new generation of artists and raising funds for two Rockland non-profits dedicated toward giving young artists a regular platform for creative expression. From 7-8 pm, guests can enjoy champagne and hors d’oeuvres at the VIP Reception which will feature an exhibit preview, a poetry reading by Samuel Claiborne and a live auction of acclaimed artist and Blue Rock School alumna Zaria Forman’s signed limited edition print of “Jakobshavn Glacier, Greenland, April 29th, 2017.” Samuel Claiborne is a published poet, essayist, composer, musician, film-scorer and sound-designer video artist and photographer. General admission to the exhibit and sale is from 8-10 pm and guests can enjoy wine, hors d’oeuvres and live music. VIP Reception & Live Auction $55 in advance and $65 at the door. Art Exhibition & Sale $35 in advance and $45 at the door. Tickets available at brownpapertickets.com. For more information visit www.rocklandartcenter.org or call 845-358-0877.
