Join Santa as he ushers in the holiday season at the Museum on December 1, 2018, from 10:30am until 12 noon. Children can tell Santa their holiday wishes, as they have their picture taken with him on a real fire truck! Create a unique holiday memory your family will always treasure at the FASNY Museum of Firefighting. This program and admission to the Museum for the day is free to residents of Columbia County (with proof of residency, a driver’s license, of head of household) thanks to a generous grant award from Hudson River Bank and Trust Foundation. Regular admission rates apply for those not residing in Columbia County and include all activities, including a picture with Santa. Museum programs are always free for Museum members. This event is part of the Museum’s Super Saturday program series: please visit www.fasnyfiremuseum.com to see all the events offered in this free series of programs. The Museum is located at 117 Harry Howard Avenue in Hudson, New York. For further information about this program or the Museum, call 518-822-1875, ext.17 or visit us online. In addition to the activity above, now through New Year’s Eve day, children can participate in the Museum’s holiday scavenger hunt. Families can stroll through the Museum and look for fourteen holiday scenes on various fire trucks. Playful penguins, holiday horses, mischievous monkeys, cuddly Christmas cats and more stuffed animals are displayed in holiday scenes throughout the Museum. Younger children can try and find all of the holiday scenes and identify the animals they find in the scenes. Older children can also try to figure out what special gifts Santa left for the animals for Christmas by reading the clues given in the scavenger hunt booklet. All children will receive a prize for their efforts. Parents: look for the safety tip at each holiday scene to help keep your family safe during this festive season. This activity is sure to provide a morning or afternoon of holiday fun for families that they will always remember, so put on your “thinking caps” and come visit the Museum soon to enjoy this seasonal interactive! The FASNY Museum of Firefighting is America’s interactive museum of firefighting! Activities for families include creative play on selected fire engines, hands-on interactives, including the popular bucket brigade activity, a virtual fire engine driving activity, the new Jr. Firefighter Challenge and the Cabot/McCadam Discovery Room. With over 60 pieces of apparatus on exhibit, whether you’re a firefighter, a student of history or a family looking for a fun and educational day trip, you will not want to miss this unique Museum!
