Art in Nature explores various drawing and painting techniques while incorporating materials found in the natural world. The class will venture out into the Westmoreland property to take molds of animal tracks and to gather materials such as leaves, pine cones and feathers to form still life studies. Each student then renders sketches and more fully-realized art pieces from the treasures they find. We will be using the mediums of pencils, markers and paint. Students also utilize in-house resources such as taxidermy woodland creatures, skeletal remains, insect and animal nests and record their interpretations in sketchbooks. All class materials provided, as well as a healthy snack which begins each class.
