The White Plains Performing Arts Center is proud to bring Tony Award winning lyricist Martin Charnin to White Plains as part of the Creating Broadway series. Join us on Saturday, April 10 at 7:00 pm for this lecture style class where Mr. Charnin will share stories from his life in the theatre and give advice for rounding out songs in an actor’s repertoire for audition or performance. Six to eight people will be selected from ticket buyers, by audition, to join Mr. Charnin on stage.
Mr. Charnin has been the director, lyricist, composer, librettist, producer or a combination for over 85 theatrical productions. He is best known for his work as the conceiver, director and lyricist of the Tony Award winning musical, Annie and its sequel, Annie Warbucks. During his extensive career, Mr. Charnin has received four Tony nominations, one Tony Award, seven Grammy Awards, three Emmy Awards, three Gold records, two Platinum records, six Drama Desk Awards and a Peabody Award for Broadcasting.
The Creating Broadway series from the WPPAC Conservatory Theatre brings top-notch Broadway artists to the WPPAC stage, showcasing the talents that got them to the Great White Way. The series is presented in the form of concerts, master classes, lectures and workshops. Whether participating or observing, these events promise to be amazing opportunities for teaching and learning for theatre enthusiasts and professionals of all levels.
