“Hilarious…an unlikely and perhaps alarming combination of Mary Hartman and Mary McCarthy…. To a dose of Huck Finn add some Lenny Bruce, Oscar Wilde and Alexis de Tocqueville, a dash of cabdriver, an assortment of puns, minced jargon, and top it off with smarty pants.”
—New York Times
“Before the amusements of …The Onion or Sex and the City, there was Fran Lebowitz: the single inheritor to the smart-notsmarmy, sarcastic , cosmopolitan
crown left by Dorothy Parker.”
—Philadelphia City Paper
Dubbed the “gold standard for intelligence, efficiency, and humor” by David Sedaris, Fran Lebowitz is set to bring her sharp wit and unparalleled social commentary to the Paramount Hudson Valley Theater. In a world teeming with endless chatter, Lebowitz stands as a beacon of incisive, no-nonsense observations on current events, culture, and the absurdities of modern life. From her memorable essays to her off-the-cuff musings, she’s an enduring voice of satire and humor. Known for her bestselling essay collections Metropolitan Life and Social Studies (now compiled in The Fran Lebowitz Reader), Lebowitz tackles everything from the quirks of city life to the foibles of human behavior with acerbic humor. Her writing has been translated into multiple languages, earning her global acclaim. On stage, Lebowitz brings the same irascible wit, unfiltered opinions, and deadpan delivery that make her a favorite on talk shows and in documentaries, including her Emmy-nominated Netflix series Pretend It’s a City, directed by Martin Scorsese. Don’t miss this evening of candid conversation and laugh-out-loud insights with one of our era’s sharpest cultural critics. Fran Lebowitz’s humor, style, and unparalleled storytelling will leave you entertained and enlightened. Tickets are sure to sell quickly for this one-of-a-kind event!
