A four-mile hike around Lake Maratanza and the Ice Caves to study how the mountains and caves formed. Participants should come prepared with water, snacks, sunscreen, and appropriate footwear for difficult and slippery terrain in the ice caves, where ice persists year-round. Meet at the Sam’s Point Visitor Center. Pre-registration is required by calling Sam's Point at 845-647-7989.

Join Dylan Medici, Student Conservation Association/AmeriCorps Ecosystem Stewardship Assistant on a four-mile hike around Lake Maratanza and the Ice Caves to study how the mountains and caves formed. Participants should come prepared with water, snacks, sunscreen, and appropriate footwear for difficult and slippery terrain in the ice caves, where ice persists year-round. All unvaccinated participants are encouraged to wear face coverings and keep a minimum six-foot distance away from others who are not part of their immediate household. Additionally, all unvaccinated visitors are required to wear a mask when inside buildings. Meet at the Sam’s Point Visitor Center. Pre-registration is required by calling Sam's Point at 845-647-7989.
