Start the weekend off with a great journey into the heart of Minnewaska. Join Park staff on this long and adventurous hike to see highlights such as Verkeerder Kill Falls, Mud Pond, and the crystal-clear Lake Awosting, where we will eat lunch and go for a swim. This twelve-mile hike will consist of three miles of carriage road walking with the remaining nine miles being on footpaths. Participants must wear appropriate shoes and bring a backpack with plenty of water, snacks, lunch, and any clothes needed for swimming. This hike is recommended for participants over the age of 16. Participants younger than 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian over the age of 18. All unvaccinated participants are encouraged to wear face coverings and keep a minimum six-foot distance away from others who are not part of their immediate household. Additionally, all unvaccinated visitors are required to wear a mask when inside buildings. Meet at the Sam’s Point Visitor Center. Pre-registration is required by calling Sam's Point at 845-647-7989.
