Our second workshop is the exciting Fiddler on the Roof JR, yes that same ‘Fiddler’ that is now playing on Broadway! This 3-week workshop meets August 1 – August 19 (M-F) and is open to rising 3-10 graders. During the workshop, students will be cast, rehearse, tech and perform the sixty-minute Fiddler on the Roof JR, all in the span of three weeks! Raise a glass “To Life” at the WPPAC Summer Theatre Academy!
This special adaptation of the nine-time Tony Award-winning Broadway musical, Fiddler On The Roof JR follows ‘Tevye’ the milkman as he tries to protect his daughters and his way of life from a changing world. With the help of a colorful and tight-knit Jewish community, Tevye tries to marry-off his daughters and instill in them a sense of tradition in the face of growing anti-Semitism in Czarist Russia.
Created by Broadway legends Jerome Robbins, Harold Prince, Jerry Bock, Sheldon Harnick, and Joseph Stein, Fiddler on the Roof JR tackles the universal theme of tradition in ways that reach across barriers of race, class, nationality, and religion. Fiddler On The Roof JR is a great introduction to the world of musical theatre. Young performers will love its humor, warmth, and honesty.
Music by Jerry Bock | Book by Joseph Stein | Lyrics by Sheldon Harnick | Based on Sholem Aleichem’s stories by special permission of Arnold Perl | Produced on the New York stage by Harold Prince | Entire Original Production Directed & Choreographed by Jerome Robbins
