Tanabata is a Japanese festival celebrating the meeting of two stars, Orihime and Hikoboshi, who are separated by the Milky Way and can only meet once a year on July 7th.

In Japan, people write their wishes on small colorful papers called "tanzaku" and tie them to bamboo branches, hoping their dreams will come true. For these special workshops, let’s write our wishes in ink and hang them on the bamboo together!

This workshop is suitable for parent and kid duos, when registering please sign up for 2 tickets together. All materials provided.

This program is made possible by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature.
