Women's History Days - At Old Sturbridge Village

Visit Old Sturbridge Village during Women's History Weekend this March to learn about what a woman's life was like in early New England. Visitors can explore the historic village and interact with costumed interpreters as they demonstrate the various ways that women supported their households, and how they participated in the economic life of their towns. Visitors will also have the opportunity to learn about the challenges that women faced during the Revolutionary War, and how they supported themselves and their families during those times.

- Learn about early 19th-century cooking in the Freeman Farmhouse

- Learn about textile production during the Revolution and see our costumed historians demonstrate spinning and weaving
- Learn about academics and what school was like in the early 19th century
- See the potter making domestic wares commonly used by women in early New England
- Look what we found in the attic: Opening a trunk full of Ma and Pa's old clothes from the time of the Revolution
- Quilt making: Creating wooden templates
- Visit the Tin Shop and learn why tinware began gaining popularity in the kitchen in the early 19th-century
